Planting Guide

Plant bulbs in fall, 3" deep and 2–3" apart in well-drained soil. Place the flat side down with the pointed tip facing up. Water thoroughly after planting. For lawn plantings, group bulbs together and avoid mowing until foliage yellows in late spring.

Growing Conditions

  • Planting Depth: 3" deep
  • Spacing: 2–3" apart
  • Sun: Full sun to partial shade (minimum 3–4 hours)
  • Soil: Well-drained; neutral to slightly alkaline preferred
  • Hardiness Zones: 3–9
  • Bloom Time: Early spring

Forcing Indoors

Want spring color all winter long? Blue Moon Mix crocus are excellent for forcing. Pot them in moist, soilless mix, chill at 40°F for 8–10 weeks, then bring into a bright, cool room. Blooms appear in just 2–5 weeks — a stunning centerpiece for any table.

Fertilizing Tips

Feed bulbs in fall with a slow-release bulb fertilizer. Apply again in early spring as foliage emerges. Avoid bone meal — it attracts digging animals. Consistent fall fertilizing rewards you with bigger, more vibrant blooms each year.
