- Ships as live plants — well-rooted starter plants giving you a head start over growing from seed
Care Guide
- Light: Full sun to partial sun — at least 6 hours of direct light daily for best flowering.
- Soil: Well-draining, fertile soil with a slightly alkaline to neutral pH (6.5–7.0). Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils.
- Water: Water consistently but allow the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings. Lisianthus does not tolerate soggy roots. Water at the base to keep foliage dry.
- Temperature: Prefers moderate temperatures — ideal daytime range is 70–80°F. Performs best in regions with warm days and cooler nights. Struggles in extreme heat above 90°F.
- Fertilizer: Feed every 2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer during active growth and budding. Transition to a low-nitrogen, high-phosphorus fertilizer as buds form to encourage robust blooming.
- Containers: Grows beautifully in pots and containers — use a deep pot with excellent drainage. A container with drainage holes is essential.
- Hardiness: Grown as an annual in most US climates; perennial in Zones 8–11.
Cutting Garden Tips
- Cut stems when the first 1–2 flowers on the stem are fully open and remaining buds are showing color.
- Cut at an angle with clean, sharp scissors or shears and place immediately into water.
- Change vase water every 2 days and recut stems for maximum vase life of 2–3 weeks.
- Remove lower leaves that would sit below the waterline to prevent bacterial growth.
