Size: 10 Bulbs

Anemone blanda — Windflower, Mixed Colors — is a charming, early-blooming dwarf perennial bulb delivering masses of daisy-like flowers in a lovely blend of lilac, white, purple, and fuchsia, each with a soft yellow center, from as early as March. At just 4–6 inches tall and blooming for 4–6 weeks, these small, hardy corms are ideal for naturalizing in drifts under deciduous trees, in rock gardens, raised beds, short grass, and as companion planting for dwarf narcissus. They spread eagerly over time to form large, long-lasting clumps. Deer resistant. The flower symbolizes unfading love and protection against evil. Hardy Zones 5–11. Bulb size 5/+ cm.

Tip: Soak corms in water overnight before planting. Plant in naturalistic drifts — orientation doesn’t matter.

Plant Highlights

  • Daisy-like flowers in lilac, white, purple, and fuchsia with soft yellow centers — blooms for 4–6 weeks beginning in March
  • Naturalizes freely — spreads to form large, long-lasting clumps over time
  • Deer resistant; ideal for rock gardens, raised beds, short grass, and under deciduous trees
  • Excellent companion for dwarf narcissus and other spring bulbs
  • Height: 4–6 inches | Hardy Zones 5–11 | Bulb size: 5/+ cm

Planting Guide

Pre-soak: Soak corms overnight in cool water before planting to rehydrate.

Orientation: Does not matter — plant any way up. Corms will find their way.

Depth: 5 cm (2 inches) deep, 15 cm (6 inches) apart.

Timing: Plant in autumn (September–November) for spring bloom.

Site: Gently shaded areas preferred; also works in sun before deciduous trees leaf out. Well-drained soil essential. Leave undisturbed to allow natural spread and colony formation.

Marking: Leaves die back a few weeks after flowering — mark or label the planting position so corms are not accidentally disturbed or dug up later in the season.

Care Guide

Autumn: Mulch over the planting area. In colder areas, lift corms and store in a frost-free spot over winter.

Propagation: Plant new corms in autumn, or lift and divide mature clumps in June or July.
