Greek Heirloom Cannellini Bush Bean Seeds
Grow creamy white cannellini beans for shelling or dry harvest. Also known as white kidney beans, they’re a versatile choice for soups, stews and other savory meals.
Approximate seed counts
- 1 oz: about 55 seeds
- 4 oz: about 220 seeds
- 1 lb: about 880 seeds
Planting information
These frost-tender bush beans need warm, frost-free weather. Direct-sow after the danger of frost has passed in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Plant about 3–4 seeds per foot, with rows 24–30 inches apart. In warm, moist conditions or very fertile soil, some bush beans may develop runners. Avoid handling plants while the foliage is wet.
Harvesting
For shelling beans, pick pods when the beans inside are plump. For dry beans, leave pods on the plant until they are hard and fully dry. If heavy rain or frost threatens before they finish drying, pull the plants and hang them in a dry place, or finish drying picked pods indoors before threshing.
