Bermuda Hot Pepper – Rare Island Heirloom, Untreated Seeds
Capsicum annuum | Annual | 60–70 Days to Maturity (Early Season)
A genuine rarity from the shores of Bermuda, this early-season heirloom pepper is one of the lesser-known gems of the Caribbean pepper world. Prolific, compact plants (12–18 inches tall) bear upright pods that gradually become pendant as they mature, transitioning from pale green to a vibrant red. Fruits are 2.5–3 inches long with thick, fleshy walls and a mild heat that makes them accessible to a wide range of palates. An ideal variety for container growing, small gardens, and chileheads who appreciate rare provenance as much as great flavor.

Soil & Water

Planting & Growing Tips
- Optional: soak seeds in room-temperature water for up to 24 hours to speed germination.
- Start seeds indoors 8 weeks before the last expected frost; sow ¼ inch deep in organic seed-starting mix.
- Maintain 80–85°F (27–29°C) soil temperature; use a seedling heat mat. Germination: 1–4 weeks.
- Harden off gradually; transplant outdoors once nights stay above 55°F (13°C).
- To extend the season: supplement with LED grow lights in winter, gently shake or brush plants to aid pollination, and trim in fall to overwinter indoors.
- Container growing: 5-gallon pots or larger; compact habit makes it ideal for patios.
Harvest Tips
- Harvest at the red stage for peak flavor and mild heat; pick regularly to encourage continued production.
- Use garden scissors to cut cleanly from stems. Excellent fresh, pickled, or added to Caribbean-style dishes.
