Ring of Fire Pepper Seeds – Capsicum annuum

The Ring of Fire is a standout cayenne-type pepper prized for its early maturity, high yield, and intense heat — registering an impressive 70,000–85,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), well above the average cayenne. Curved, thin-walled, bright red fruits develop abundantly on vigorous plants and ripen quickly, making this an ideal choice for gardeners who want a reliable, productive hot pepper from seed to harvest.

Versatile in the kitchen: dry and grind into flakes or powder, use for pickling, canning, hot sauces, or Caribbean-style seasonings. A must-grow for chili lovers, hot sauce makers, and anyone who wants serious heat with a classic cayenne flavor.

Safe Handling

  • Always wear nitrile gloves when handling seeds, plants, and fruits.
  • Wash hands thoroughly even after removing gloves.
  • Keep lime juice on hand — it helps relieve skin burning if contact occurs.
  • Never touch your eyes or face while handling. Only remove gloves when completely finished.

Starting Seeds Indoors

  • Optional: soak seeds in room-temperature water for up to 24 hours to speed germination.
  • Sow seeds ¼ inch deep indoors in organic seed-starting mix — avoid jiffy peat pots or standard potting soil, which can cause moisture and fungus issues.
  • Maintain warm soil with bottom heat if possible; germination improves significantly with consistent warmth.
  • Wait to transplant outdoors until soil is consistently warm.

Hardening Off & Transplanting

  • Begin hardening off by placing seedlings in a wind-protected spot with a couple of hours of sunlight daily.
  • Gradually increase sun exposure over 1–2 weeks.
  • Bring indoors if night temperatures drop below 55°F (13°C).

Soil, Water & Fertilizer

  • Soil: Fertile, well-drained garden soil; mulch with grass clippings or straw around the base.
  • Water: Water deeply with soaker hoses during dry and hot spells.
  • Fertilizer: Apply slow-release fertilizer at transplanting; follow with a liquid feed every two weeks throughout the season.
