Calendula officinalis 'Pacific Beauty Mix' — the beloved Pot Marigold — is one of the most versatile and rewarding annuals in the cool-season garden. Daisy-like blooms in vivid shades of orange and yellow rise on 16–24-inch stems, covering the plant heavily from spring through fall. Both the flowers and foliage are edible, making Calendula a favorite in culinary and cosmetic herb gardens as well as ornamental borders. It attracts bees, birds, and butterflies, and has exceptional pest-fighting properties — drawing beneficial insects while helping to deter less desirable ones. A natural companion plant. Deer resistant. Approx. 4,500 seeds per oz.

Plant Highlights

  • Vivid orange and yellow daisy-like blooms — single and double forms in the mix
  • Edible flowers and foliage; used in culinary, cosmetic, and herbal applications
  • Outstanding cut flower — long-lasting in the vase
  • Attracts bees, birds, and butterflies; excellent companion plant for pest management
  • Cool-season performer; blooms best in spring and fall; thrives in all North American regions
  • Deer resistant

Growing Guide

Starting indoors: Sow in cell packs; press seeds into soil and lightly cover. Keep at 70°F; germination in 7–14 days.

Direct sowing: Sow outdoors after all frost danger has passed in spring. Lightly cover seeds with peat moss; sow 6 seeds per foot. Thin to 8–12 inches apart.

Site and soil: Full sun to partial shade; moist, well-drained soil, pH 5.8–6.5. Moderate water needed; tolerates almost any soil with good drainage. Performs best in cool weather; grows fall through spring in mild winter areas.

Ongoing care: Deadhead spent blooms to extend the flowering season. Plants are long-lasting cut flowers — harvest frequently to encourage more blooms.
