THUNBERGIA: An annual vine also known as Black Eyed Susan. It is a vigorous growing vine that can grow to 6’–8’ in a single season. Thunbergia are great for baskets, large containers and trellises. The bright colored flowers bloom all summer.
Easily care for the charming black-eyed Susan vine, with daisy-like flowers and medium green leaves that can be either heart-shaped or have a lance-like arrowhead shape.
Native to eastern Africa, this fast-growing perennial vine is considered invasive in many parts of the world, including Hawaii. If in plant hardiness zones 10 or 11, check with local authorities before planting outdoors. Best planted in spring after warm soil and commonly grown as an annual, it can reach 8 feet in one season.
