Prunella grandiflora ‘Rubra’ — Heal All or Self Heal — is a native wildflower perennial with centuries of medicinal and culinary use on nearly every continent, long valued for a wide range of traditional healing applications. It is both edible and medicinal — young leaves and flowers can be used in salads, soups, and stews, or boiled as a pot herb. The leaves contain an effective natural astringent. Compact, spreading habit with prolific reddish-purple flower clusters that are irresistible to butterflies and other beneficial insects. Excellent as a flowering ground cover with light foot traffic tolerance. Deer resistant. USDA Zones 3–8.
Note: While Heal All has a long traditional use history, consult a qualified herbalist or medical professional before using any plant medicinally.

Sowing Guide
Timing: Sow seeds indoors in late winter.
Method: Surface sow on lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Cover with a fine sprinkling of peat moss. Place in a warm location; maintain 65–70°F. Keep the compost surface consistently moist but never soggy.
Light required: No — seeds can germinate without light.
Germination: 14–21 days at 65–70°F.
Transplanting: When seedlings are large enough to handle, move to 3-inch pots. Harden off outdoors for 10–15 days before planting out after all frost risk has passed. Space 12 inches apart.
Coverage: Approximately 100 seeds covers 5 square feet.
Care Guide
Light: Full sun to partial shade. In very hot climates, blooms may pause during the hottest weeks and resume when temperatures cool.
Soil: Well-drained; pH 5.5–7.0. Adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions.
Growth rate: Aggressive spreader — divide or trim as needed to manage spread.
Containers: Also performs well in containers.
