Size: Packet-10 Seeds

Grow your own Alma Spice paprika peppers for fresh picking or homemade seasoning. These productive plants bear round, thick-walled fruits with a sweet flavor and just a hint of warmth. The peppers mature from creamy white to orange and then glossy red, ready to bring color and gentle pepper flavor from garden to kitchen.

  • Days to maturity: Approximately 80 days
  • Fruit: Round, thick-walled, about 1–2 inches

  • Use: Fresh eating, drying, and grinding into paprika
  • Available sizes: 10, 30, 100, or 500 seeds

Start seeds indoors

Sow seeds about ¼ inch deep in warm seed-starting mix. Peppers need warmth to germinate, so gentle bottom heat can help. Keep the mix evenly moist without waterlogging it, and allow air to circulate. Pepper seeds may take their time to sprout, so start early and be patient.

Grow and care

After frost danger has passed and the soil is warm, transplant to a sunny spot with fertile, well-drained soil. Water consistently, especially during hot, dry spells. Alma Spice peppers can also grow in containers; a roomy 5-gallon pot gives the roots space.

Harvest and make paprika

Pick fruits fresh at the stage you prefer, or let them turn fully red for drying. Use scissors or garden pruners to harvest without damaging the plant. Dry ripe peppers and grind them into a fragrant, sweet paprika, or enjoy them fresh from the garden.
