Giant Purple Globes for a Striking Summer Border
Allium 'Globemaster' produces large, rounded heads of violet-purple flowers on tall stems, adding bold shape and height to the garden in early summer. Plant it among perennials to create a focal point as spring flowers finish and summer borders begin to fill out.
Enjoy the flower heads outdoors, cut a few stems for an arrangement, or leave the fading heads standing for their sculptural shape. Visiting bees can add movement to the display while nearby foliage helps conceal the allium leaves as they fade.

Fall Planting
Plant bulbs in fall in a sunny location with well-drained soil. Light partial shade may be suitable, but avoid soggy areas where bulbs can rot. Position the tall flower stems where surrounding plants will not crowd or shade them.
- Unpack promptly and keep bulbs dry and ventilated until planting.
- Plant with the pointed end upward, following the depth and spacing instructions supplied with your stock.
- Allow room for the mature flower heads and developing clumps rather than crowding the bulbs.
- Water after planting to settle the soil and allow excess moisture to drain.
Watering and Feeding
Water during active growth when rainfall is insufficient, without keeping the soil constantly wet. Use fertilizer only as needed, following the product label and local soil recommendations. Good drainage is especially important during dormancy.
After Flowering
Leave healthy green foliage in place until it yellows and dies back naturally so it can replenish the bulb. Remove spent flower heads for a tidier border, or retain them for ornamental interest. Do not rely on seedheads to produce more plants true to this cultivar.
If clumps become crowded, lift and divide when dormant after the foliage has died back. Replant healthy bulbs with adequate room to grow. Repeat flowering depends on climate, establishment, and care and is not guaranteed.
Climate and Winter Care
USDA zones 4–8 are listed for this variety. Consider your local conditions and planting-site drainage when choosing a location. Bulbs in containers are more exposed to temperature extremes and may need additional winter protection.
Ornamental Use Only
These ornamental bulbs are not sold for culinary use. Do not eat bulbs or other plant parts. Alliums can be harmful to cats and dogs if ingested; keep bulbs and plants away from pets and children who may chew them.
