There are not too many herb plants that love the heat, but Rock Purslane loves heat and sun. The Rock Purslane plant has a mounding habit. With the mounding growth habit and heat tolerance, the Rock Purslane plant makes an excellent choice for a rock garden or as a bedding plant. It is also known as Red Maids, and it is a member of the Portulaca family. The Red Maids plant has the rubbery, blue-green succulent foliage as its more widely-used cousin, and the flowers also resemble Portulaca, but appear at the end of long stems for a much taller, more upright habit.
