Creamy White Peppers with Fiery Habanero Heat

White Habanero brings an unexpected color to your hot pepper harvest. Also known as Peruvian White Habanero, this Capsicum chinense variety produces creamy-white pods on compact, bushy plants. Starting your seeds

Start indoors well ahead of your outdoor planting season. Sow approximately 1/4 inch deep in a well-draining seed-starting mix. Keep the mix consistently warm and moist without waterlogging. A seedling heat mat can help maintain steady warmth. Germination can be slow and uneven, so allow several weeks and provide bright light once seedlings emerge.

Growing and care

Gradually harden off seedlings before transplanting outdoors after frost risk has passed and soil and nights are reliably warm. Choose a sunny location with fertile, well-draining soil. Water consistently, adjusting for rainfall and heat, and mulch around established plants to help retain moisture.

For container growing, use a roomy pot with drainage holes; a 5-gallon container is a practical choice. Feed according to the directions on a suitable vegetable fertilizer. Protect plants from cold weather.

Harvest and enjoy

Harvest when pods develop their mature creamy-white color. Cut stems with garden scissors rather than pulling fruit from the plant. Add very small amounts to sauces and salsas, tasting cautiously as you adjust the heat.

Packet options

Choose from the available 10-, 30-, or 100-seed options. Check your selected packet size before ordering.

Hot pepper safety

Wear gloves when cutting or processing peppers. Avoid touching your eyes or other sensitive areas, and wash hands, utensils, and work surfaces thoroughly afterward. Keep harvested peppers away from children and pets.
