Planting & Care Guide
Light: Full sun preferred (at least 6 hours of direct sun daily). In hot, dry climates provide partial afternoon shade for the healthiest plants.
Soil: Well-draining, organically rich soil; pH 6.6–7.7. Amend with a few inches of compost before planting.
Water: Consistent moisture — approximately 1 inch per week. Mulch around the base to retain moisture. Check the top inch of soil before additional watering in extreme heat.
Planting: Set transplants 3 inches from supports. Space 8–12 inches apart. Pinch tips of young plants to encourage branching. Netting or strings make excellent trellis material.
