Growing Guide
Starting indoors: Sow 10–12 weeks before the last frost date. Seeds are extremely tiny — press gently onto the moist soil surface without covering; seeds need light to germinate. Keep soil consistently wet. Placing trays on top of a refrigerator provides the steady warmth that boosts germination. Keep at 72–76°F; germination in 7–14 days.
Transplanting: Five to six weeks after sowing, transplant seedlings into 3-inch pots and grow on in cooler temperatures with plenty of light. Harden off for 10–14 days before planting out after the last frost. Pinch back young plants when setting out to encourage branching and a fuller habit.
Site & soil: Full sun to partial shade; well-drained soil, pH 5.6–6.6.
Ongoing care: Deadhead faded flowers regularly for best display and to keep plants full of color all season. Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–3 weeks.
