Growing Guide

Starting indoors: In regions with short growing seasons, start seeds indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost date. Soak seeds overnight before planting to speed germination. Sow 2–3 seeds per peat pot; keep at 80–90°F until germination, then thin to one seedling per pot.

Transplanting outdoors: Move seedlings out once air temperature holds consistently at 60°F or above. Plant in full sun, 12–15" apart in rows 3' apart.

Direct sowing (warmer climates): Sow ¾" deep after soil warms; thin plants to 12–15" apart.

Growing on: Once seedlings reach 4", mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Water consistently during dry spells. In cooler climates, use black plastic mulch or row covers to build soil heat.

Harvest: Harvest pods at 3–5" for peak tenderness. Consistent harvesting encourages continued production throughout the season.
