ornamental onions Seeds ,ALLIUM flavum Small Yellow Onion Great cut-flowers for fresh or dried arrangements,
Allium flavum is a species of onion native to the lands surrounding the Mediterranean, Black, and Caspian Seas, from France + Morocco to Iran + Kazakhstan. Allium flavum produces one bulb, and a scape up to 40 cm tall
Ornamental onions perform beautifully, blooming late spring through early summer; they add a different, spectacular or architectural dimension to the garden; many suitable for Heirloom gardens and sunny, well-drained meadow; also wonderful cut and dried flowers
How To Grow :
For container grown plants, sow flowered keeled garlic seeds in soil that is very porous. A recommended soil mixture is 1 part perlite, 1 part peat moss, and 1 part potting soil. If growing the plants outdoors, amend the soil with organic matter so that it drains well. The flowered keeled garlic plants will rot if the soil retains water. Sow the Garlic herb seeds on the soil and lightly cover with 1/8 inch of soil and keep the flower seeds moist until germination.
SOWING ADVICE: SOW SEEDS AT ANY TIME COVERING THEM WITH COMPOST OR GRIT 5MM DEEP, KEEPING THE SEED POT IN A COOL, WELL-LIT SPOT OUTDOORS. ARTIFICIAL HEAT IS NOT NEEDED AND PREVENT GERMINATION SO BE VERY PATIENT AS MANY SPECIES WILL ONLY GERMINATE IN THE SPRING AFTER CHILLING OR FREEZING IN THE MOIST SEED TRAY IN THE WINTER. GROW ON INDIVIDUAL SEEDLINGS IN SMALL POTS UNTIL OF SUFFICIENT SIZE TO BE POTTED ON OR PLANTED OUT INTO THE OPEN GROUND.
