Ideal for Asian cuisine and soups, this organic Adzuki bean variety matures quickly and at a smaller size. It can also be utilized as French filet beans and should be planted in sunny, well-drained soil during late spring after the last frost. Commonly referred to as Chinese Red Bean.
Uses for adzuki beans include Japanese desserts, sweet bean paste, cakes, ice cream, rice pairing, plant protein, soups, curries, candied beans, and bean salads.
Wase Adzuki Beans have a 60-80 day maturity, making them perfect for greenhouse, cold frame, and hoop house growth. This Japanese vegetable is incredibly versatile, with seeds used in soups and sweets, and the young green beans prepared like French filet beans. Plus, they attract local pollinators with their flowers!

Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Harvesting occurs in early summer to midsummer (June -July in Japan). Pick young green bean pod for fresh cooking. For dried beans, harvest the total plant at the end of the season and hang indoors to dry thoroughly before shelling the beans. Adzuki beans do not require trellising. Adzuki beans are prepared in many ways. It is commonly prepared sweet, boiled, and mashed with sugar into a red bean paste. Also beans can be added to soups, pureed with spices, and fresh bean sprouts.
