Growing : Begonias are best grown in peat-free, multi-purpose compost in areas with dappled sunlight or partial shade. Plant tubers in the spring, but wait until May to plant them outside to avoid frost. Water consistently and use a high-potash fertiliser like tomato feed once a week. Store tuberous begonias in a cool, frost-free spot during autumn and bring fibrous-rooted types indoors or treat them as annuals for the compost heap. Foliage begonias make great house plants but can also be enjoyed outdoors during the summer.
