The fruits of the C’s Red Fig are of larger size, typically a bit larger than a golf ball. The skin of the figs will ripen to reddish-brown, usually beginning in the early summertime. The flesh is deep red, with a sweet flavor. Great for fresh eating, or a variety of other uses! The inside flesh is deep red with a sweet berry flavor.
The skin color is reddish brown when the fig is fully ripe and will resist cracking during rainfall unlike other fig varieties. Fruit size is considered
large, about ¼ inch larger than a golf ball. The fine fruit quality is suitable for fresh marketing after the fruits are chilled to 40 degrees.
The plants adapt very well to container growing and can be grown outdoors in the soil. The original plant on the Pangaio residence is more than 50 years old with a trunk
12 inches in diameter and a height of 25 feet. The plants are cold tolerant to USDA Zone 6, so will grow successfully in temperatures minus 10 degrees F.
- As soon as your fig tree is delivered, carefully cut open the box, remove the packaging, and allow the tree to get some sunlight.
- We recommend watering daily and waiting at least a week before planting. This will allow the tree to recover from any shipping stress and adjust to your climate.
