The Egyptian star flower, or Pentas lanceolata, is a bushy plant that produces year-long star-shaped blooms when not hindered by frost. The Egyptian star flower foliage is velvet-textured green with a variety of flower color choices, including red, white, variegated and purple. The plant attracts various species, such as hummingbirds, bees and butterflies.

The Pentas BEEBRIGHT series offers a beautiful mix of colors with star-shaped flowers. Pentas Starflower are ideal in a hot, sunny location, and they will grow into 12 inch tall mounds of flowers in shades of: white, pink, red, ruby,and violet. Egyptian Star Cluster Pentas are striking in the garden or as a container plant. Its hybrid genetics ensures uniformity of plant habit and bloom time. Pentas flowers are vigorous and sun-loving, and they grow well in both northern and southern climates. In frost-free zones, the Star Flower plant will grow as a perennial. In colder zones, grow them as annuals.

Pentas flower care includes deadheading the spent flowers to promote continual blooming. Apply a fertilizer each month during the growing season. If the Pentas Egyptian Star Cluster plants are being grown as perennials, cut them back each fall.
