Can Grow In Container's excellent winter greenhouse cress that can be grown indoors or out.
Cress is a popular microgreen due to how easy it is to grow and the fact that it’s one of the most nutrient-dense greens out there. It even beats the Almighty Kale in terms of nutrient density according to the USDA.
The peppery taste and unique leaf structure make it a chef favorite, used in soups, salads, and garnishes. For the home cook, cress is great for juicing, smoothies, or as an addition to a salad mix to add some extra spice.
Use in salad or sandwiches to add texture and flavor. Stuff lots of spicy garden cress in porchetta sandwiches. It is absolutely delicious.
- Cool season annual
- 188,000 seed count per pound.
- Maturity: Approx. 14-30 days
- Planting season: Early spring or fall
Often called peppergrass or curly cress, this herb is easy to grow in a container or in the garden. It has ruffled leaves with a refreshing peppery flavor. The plant grows to about 4-6" tall with mildly peppery leaves. Harvest at any stage from micro-size to full maturity. Leaves, shoots, and flower buds are all delicious.
Prefers cool temperatures. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost or in early fall by broadcasting seed or by using the row planting info in the chart. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. For a continuous supply, plant seeds every 2-3 weeks over the growing season.
