Semi-bush; provide light support when well irrigated. Vigorous vines are loaded with pods containing small blocky pink beans. Rare & unusual. Distinct tender skinned beans with a creamy texture that does not break up during cooking. These beans have been cultivated and used for the famed Santa Maria barbecues since the early 1800's. Use as dry shell. We think it makes the finest chili we have ever tasted .
Pink beans are small, pale, pinkish-brown colored, oval-shaped beans, popular in the Western United States and the Caribbean. Pink beans have a smooth, meaty, and almost powdery texture, and a semi-sweet, delicate taste.They are commonly referred to as chili beans, but may also be called by their Spanish name, Habichuelas Rosadas. The most well known pink bean is the Santa Maria pinquito, which literally means pink and small. These are Mostly grown commercially in Santa Maria, California, USA.

Pink beans are a very nutritious and low-fat food, containing only 149 calories and 0.5 grams of fat per 3 ounces (100 grams).
High in protein, pink beans are a good choice for vegetarians, or anyone trying to increase protein intake.
They are also a good source of potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, iron, and calcium.
They can be planted from seed as soon as the soil is warm (day temperatures are around 60 degrees Farenheit), in full sun and loose, well drained soil. Bush type beans are very easy to grow and manage, reaching a height of only 2 feet tall.
To control harvest, bush beans can be planted every two weeks.
The plant will grow up to 14 inches (36 cm) tall and produce pods 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) long; about 90 days from seed.

Bush beans: celery, corn, cucumbers, potatoes, rosemary, strawberries, summer savory. Pole beans: corn, rosemary, summer savory, scarlet runner beans, sunflowers. Do not plant beans with onions, beets, or kohlrabi.
