Red-leaved Plantain SEEDS, PERENNIAL Herb/Flowers
PLANTAGO major 'Purpurea' Red-leaved Plantain
This is an ornamental red-leaved form of a plant commonly thought of as a lawn weed. It forms a clump of leathery bronzy-purple leaves, which develop particularly good red colour in the autumn. Insignificant spikes of green flowers should be cut off to prevent self seeding.

Amazingly good ornamental value, adapting well to dry sites. Most seedlings that appear will come true to form. Probably hardy down to Zone 2 or colder. Extremely easy, this is practically a grow-anywhere plant although leaf color will be best with some direct sun. Good deer resistance.
Grow Plantains: In a prepared seedbed, sow the Plantain seeds directly outside in the early spring. Lightly cover the herb seeds with soil and keep moist.
