Sparaxis Tricolor Mixed Harlequin Flower
It’s not hard to understand why the sparaxis is also known as Harlequin Flower. Its bright mix of contrasting colors and the designs these colours make on the blooms give its flowers the feel of the harlequins who dressed in very colorful and geometrically-patterned costumes and donned masks for their comic performances in days gone by. The small sparaxis flowers, which bloom in orange, white and cerise, also don a mask of sorts in the centre of their flowers. It too has a very graphic pattern, with heart shaped yellow shapes superimposed on a spiky black background.
Happy in full sun, plant it along borders, in a rock garden, or anyplace its bright, unusual flowers can be appreciated. Drought tolerant, water freely during flower growth, but it's not fussy and will do well with minimal care. Sparaxis flowers make lovely cut flowers as well.
