Germander (Teucrium Chamaedris) - Wall Germander is a versatile, woody perennial with a long history of use in herb gardens, as a hedge, and in various alcoholic beverages. It's easy to grow and produces beautiful violet-colored blooms that attract bees and butterflies. The stems and flowers can also be used for wreaths and dried arrangements.
How To Grow Germander: Sow Germander seeds indoors 4 - 6 weeks before the last frost. Using a starter mix, sow the herb seeds on the surface and keep moist. Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. The Germander herb plant spreads so it is recommended to trim it back each spring to keep it neat and compact.
Approximately 1,000 seeds covers 100 square feet
Growing: Maintain consistent soil moisture as the plants mature; Wall Germander thrives in high levels of moisture, and can withstand wet conditions better than dry ones. This perennial plant spreads through rhizomes and may become invasive in favorable environments, while also attracting bees and butterflies.
Harvesting: For cut flowers, choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level, and place in water immediately.
