Sweet, Juicy Tomatoes for Everyday Picking

Campari tomatoes bring sweet flavor and juicy texture to salads, sandwiches, and summer cooking. Their round red fruits are approximately golf-ball sized, offering a useful middle ground between bite-sized cherry tomatoes and larger slicing types.

Grow them beside your kitchen garden, then pick ripe fruit for a simple tomato-and-basil salad or fresh bruschetta. These indeterminate plants continue extending their vines and can produce over an extended season when warmth, light, and care are suitable.

What You Receive

  • Product: Live Campari tomato plants, not seeds or harvested tomatoes.
  • Pack options: Choose 3, 10, or 25 plants.
  • Fruit: Round, red, approximately golf-ball sized.
  • Flavor: Sweet and juicy.
  • Growth habit: Indeterminate; requires a sturdy cage, stake, or trellis.
  • Season: Warm-season crop for full sun.

Plant size and maturity vary. Flowers or fruit at arrival, a specific harvest date, and a particular yield are not guaranteed.

Arrival and Acclimation

Unpack plants promptly and check moisture around the roots. Water gently if needed and allow excess water to drain. Place in a bright, sheltered location initially, then gradually introduce outdoor sun and wind before transplanting.

Planting Your Tomatoes

Transplant outdoors after frost danger has passed and soil and nighttime temperatures have warmed. Choose full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Allow room for vigorous vines and good airflow, and install supports at planting time.

For healthy tomato transplants, remove leaves that would sit below the soil line and bury part of the stem to encourage additional rooting. Keep remaining foliage above ground. Water thoroughly after planting. If growing in containers, give each plant a large, separate pot with drainage holes and secure support.

Watering and Feeding

  • Maintain consistent soil moisture without leaving roots waterlogged.
  • Water at the base to limit wet foliage and soil splash.
  • Mulch around plants to help conserve moisture, keeping mulch away from stems.
  • Feed with a fertilizer suitable for tomatoes according to its label and soil needs.
  • Tie growing stems loosely to supports and inspect regularly for pests or disease.
  • Protect from frost and monitor container moisture closely in hot weather.

Harvest and Kitchen Use

Harvest when tomatoes are fully red and ripe, handling gently to avoid bruising. Enjoy in salads, sandwiches, and snacks, or use in pasta dishes, fresh salsa, and pizza toppings.

Sound, mature fruit can finish ripening at room temperature out of direct sun. Refrigerate ripe tomatoes when needed to extend storage and bring to room temperature before serving for fuller flavor. Wash before preparing. Use tested preservation recipes for shelf-stable canning.

Plant Safety

Grow for the tomato fruit. Do not eat leaves or stems, and keep plant trimmings away from children and pets. Wash hands after garden work and follow the labels of any garden treatments used on edible crops.
