Tall Flower Spikes for Sunny Borders
Mixed Eremurus, commonly called foxtail lily or desert candle, adds striking vertical interest to the garden. Tall spikes of small, star-shaped flowers rise above the foliage in late spring to early summer, creating a focal point among lower-growing border plants.
Give these bare-root perennials a sunny, well-drained position with room to establish. Pair with later-season plants that can soften the space left when Eremurus foliage dies back, while keeping the crowns free from overcrowding.

- Pack options: Choose 1, 3, or 10 bare-root plants.
- Selection: Mixed Eremurus; named cultivars and exact color proportions are not specified.

Arrival Care
Unpack promptly and handle the fleshy roots carefully to avoid breakage. Plant as soon as suitable conditions allow, following the horticultural instructions supplied with the stock. If planting must be delayed, keep crowns cool, protected from frost and excessive heat, and away from persistently wet conditions.
Planting Your Bare-Root Crowns
- Choose full sun and sharply drained soil. Avoid low areas where winter water collects.
- Prepare a wide planting hole so the roots can spread naturally without being bent or forced into a narrow space.
- Support the crown on a low mound of loose soil and spread the roots outward.
- Follow the supplied stock-specific guidance for crown depth; avoid burying the central crown deeply.
- Allow generous space between crowns and surrounding plants so roots and foliage are not crowded.
- Water after planting to settle the soil, letting excess water drain.
Watering and Seasonal Care
Provide moisture during active growth, especially in dry weather, without saturating the soil. Reduce watering as foliage yellows and the plants enter dormancy. Excellent drainage remains important throughout the year.
Leave green leaves in place to replenish the roots, removing them after they die back naturally. Mark the planting position to avoid disturbing dormant crowns. Provide winter protection suited to your location without trapping wet material against the crown.
Allow established plants to remain undisturbed where possible. Monitor emerging growth and protect tall flower stems from damage in exposed locations.
Ornamental Use Only
This product is for garden display, not culinary use. Do not eat roots or other plant parts. Keep planting material away from children and pets, and wash hands after handling.
