Germination Instructions
- Scarify the seed coat — pour near-boiling water over seeds and allow to soak until water cools to room temperature. Repeat 2–3 times until the outer coat softens and begins to slip away.
- Remove the softened seed coat by hand, then soak the exposed seed in room-temperature water for a few hours before sowing.
- Sow seeds on their side, ¼ inch deep in moist, well-draining coco coir or seed-starting mix.
- Maintain soil temperature of 75–85°F (24–29°C); bottom heat greatly improves results.
- Keep moist but not waterlogged; check daily and remove any seeds showing mold.
- Germination: 7–14 days with proper scarification; up to several months without treatment.
- Transplant once seedlings have 2–3 sets of true leaves.
