For a jump start on summer, pot tubers indoors in late winter and move plants outdoors after the threat of frost has passed. While begonias thrive in containers, they can be planted in the garden and are easy to grow in rich, well-drained soil. Plants do not tolerate frost. In zones 8 or cooler, dig plants in fall or move containers indoors, and store dry in a cool dark location over winter.
