Astilbe 'Amethyst' is a hybrid perennial named after George Arends, featuring fern-like leaves and tiny flowers on upright stems.
Genus name comes from the Greek words a meaning without and stilbe meaning brightness in reference to the dull leaves of some species.
Astilbe Amethyst is a low maintenance perennial that adds color and texture to any garden. Its feathery lavender spikes bloom in early to midsummer and its foliage stays lush and green throughout the season. A great choice for shade gardens and containers, it also repels deer.
Planting Instructions: May be planted in any well-drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to encompass the roots without bending or circling. Set the plant in place so the crown (part of the plant where the root meets the stem) is about 1-2 inches below the soil surface. Cover with soil to the original soil surface and water thoroughly.
