Maturity: Approx. 10-15 days microgreens, 20-25 days baby leaf, 50-60 days

Kale Scarlet will look gorgeous in your garden and on your dinner plate. Grow Kale Scarlet for delicious and beautiful kale that you can enjoy throughout the season.

Remarkably attractive dark green kale with red veined, frilly, tightly curled leaves. A vigorous performer with good cold tolerance. Leaves darken to deep scarlet in late season. Begin harvesting leaves when young, and allow plant to grow well into the early winter. 24-36" tall by 24" wide, 60 days from transplant.

  • 1 oz - Approximately 8,000 Seeds
  • 4 oz - Approximately 32,000 Seeds
  • 1 lb - Approximately 128,000 Seeds

The broad, frilly, purple leaves grow on 2-3' tall, upright stalks. This open-pollinated variety compares to Redbor with extreme uniformity in height, leaf shape, and color. Great for baby leaf and bunching, and can also be used as a bedding ornamental.

CULTURE: Plant approx. 3 months before expected fall frost. Sow 3 seeds every 8", 1/4- 1/2" deep, in rows 18-30" apart. Thin to 1 plant/group. You can also grow kale from transplants, like cabbage. Beginning about 2 months after planting, harvest by clipping individual leaves. For salad mix: In a 2-4" wide band sow 60 seeds/ft. Clip 4- to 5-week-old leaves. Kale and collards are very hardy, will increase in eating quality into late fall and will be harvestable through the winter in most areas. Use row cover in severe climates.
