Nasturtium (Tropaeolum nanum) Edible, Flower Seeds for Beds and Borders, Pollinator
Seeds per Ounce: 220
Nasturtium Alaska Mix: Variegated leaves, vibrant colors, edible flowers with tangy/peppery flavor. Easy to grow, long-lasting blooms, perfect for salads or as a unique garnish. Popular with bumble bees.

Nasturtiums are easy to care for. No fertilizer is needed, regular irrigation is beneficial, and they make great companion plants for vegetable gardens. Their peppery leaves repel insects, and they can survive as perennials in frost-free zones.
Sow seeds outdoors in spring, preferably after soaking them overnight. Plant 1/2 inch deep in a sunny area with light soil. Flowers will bloom in 8-12 weeks.

Gowing: Start nasturtium seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before final frost. Germinates in 14-21 days and move to grow light for 16 hours per day until true leaves develop. Transplant seedlings indoors or harden off for outdoor transplant. Plant 3-4 seeds 1/8" deep and 18-24" apart in rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade.

Growing: Maintain regular watering for seedlings until established. For mature plants, occasional watering in dry conditions is best, and they can also grow in poor or sandy soil with some tolerance for drought. Refrain from fertilizing to prevent excessive foliage and limited blooms. Deadhead to extend blooming period. This plant may self-seed and attract bees, making it a suitable container plant.

Harvesting: While their lifespan as cut flowers is short, the entire plant of this Nasturtium variety is edible. The young leaves are a delicious choice for fresh greens, and the blossoms are commonly used as a decorative garnish.
