Grow New Zealand Spinach as a substitute for traditional spinach with a longer growing season. It has a similar taste and higher vitamin C content, making it valuable for warmer climates. Unlike true spinach, it doesn't bolt in hot weather or turn bitter. It can be used in cooking just like spinach and continues to thrive through summer and fall. Non-GMO and larger than traditional spinach.
Sowing: Plant New Zealand spinach seeds following the last spring frost. Prepare by soaking seeds overnight. Plant 1/4" deep and 10" apart or in groups of three, as this spinach look-alike thrives in warm weather but not frost.
Growing: Maintain weed management until the plant is established; consider watering during dry weather. Its tendency to spread makes it suitable for a trellis or as a ground cover without support.
Harvesting:Harvest the Spinach seeds once they have grown large enough for consumption. If you are only harvesting individual leaves, carefully pluck them from the plant.
