Anemone blanda ‘White Splendour’ — Grecian Windflower — is a heavy-blooming, freely-spreading white anemone bearing pure white daisy-like flowers with golden yellow centers on graceful ferny foliage. A reliable naturalizer — once established it spreads furiously, forming an impressive carpet of white that is the perfect foil for late daffodils and all May-blooming tulips. Its diminutive stature makes it ideal for carpeting shrub borders, naturalizing in the lawn, and tucking at the base of small lacy-leaved trees. All it needs is well-drained soil and sunshine before the trees leaf out. Plant with a lavish hand for the best effect. Deer resistant. Excellent cut flower. All Zones. Bulb size 6/7 cm.

Tip: Soak bulbs in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting to rehydrate corms for faster establishment.

Planting Guide

Pre-soak: Soak corms in lukewarm water for a few hours before planting.

Depth: 2.5–3 inches deep, 4–5 inches apart. Plant in autumn for spring bloom.

Soil: Average, medium, well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Keep moist throughout the growing season.

Naturalization: Plants go dormant after flowering. They naturalize by tuberous rhizomes and self-seeding — new seedlings bloom in their second year. Leave undisturbed to form expanding colonies.

Containers: Can be grown in containers but should be moved to a permanent garden spot in autumn.

Note: Leaves die back after flowering — mark the position so corms are not accidentally disturbed.
