Akita Dinnerplate Dahlia Tubers
Grow bold, richly colored blooms with Akita dahlia tubers. Akita produces decorative flowers with deep crimson-red and fiery orange tones, often finished with lighter tips. The layered blooms bring dramatic color to sunny borders and make striking cut flowers.

Planting
Plant outdoors after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Choose fertile, well-drained soil in a sunny location. Set the tuber horizontally with the growing point facing upward, then cover with several inches of soil. Space plants to allow good airflow and room for mature growth.
Care and Cutting
Water after planting, then keep the soil consistently moist once active growth appears without leaving it waterlogged. Taller growth may benefit from staking. Removing spent flowers encourages continued bloom, while pinching early growth can promote branching. For arrangements, cut flowers when they are nearly or fully open.
Cold-Climate Storage
Dahlias are frost sensitive. In areas where the ground freezes, lift the tubers after frost blackens the foliage, allow them to dry, and store them in a cool, frost-free place until planting time.
Choose a package of 1, 3, or 10 tubers.
