Meet the Thai Orange Hot Pepper — a fiery, sun-kissed beauty straight from the gardens of Thailand. With its slender, 2–3" cayenne-style pods that ripen from deep green to a brilliant orange, this pepper is as stunning in the garden as it is powerful in the kitchen. Whether you're growing it on a patio in a container or in a full garden bed, one plant can yield an incredible 100–200 fruits per season.

Why You'll Love This Pepper

  • 🌶️ Intensely hot — classic Thai heat, perfect for hot sauces, drying, and Asian recipes
  • 🌿 Ornamental & edible — a showstopper in containers or garden beds
  • 🫙 Dries beautifully — harvest and dry for year-round seasoning
  • 🌱 Prolific producer — one plant yields hundreds of fruits
  • ⏱️ 80–90 days from transplant to harvest

How to Grow

Starting Seeds: Sow seeds indoors ¼" deep, 8–10 weeks before your last frost. Peppers love warmth — use a seedling heat mat to keep soil at 75–85°F for best germination. Be patient: seeds can sprout in 7 days or take up to 4 weeks. Once seedlings emerge, move them to bright light.

Transplanting: Wait until outdoor soil is consistently warm before transplanting. Cold soil will stunt growth. Space plants 18–24" apart in a sunny location.

Soil & Feeding: Plant in well-drained, fertile soil. Add a shovel of compost to the planting hole and feed with compost tea every few weeks during the first 6 weeks. Mulch around plants with a 1–2" layer of compost to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Container Growing: These peppers thrive in pots! Use at least a 5-gallon container with good drainage and a quality potting mix.

Harvesting: Pick pods when they've turned fully orange for peak heat and flavor. Use gloves when handling — capsaicin is a powerful irritant. Wash hands thoroughly after harvest.
