Marilyn Lily Flowering Tulip brings elegant, late-spring color to your garden with graceful blooms featuring long, pointed petals that reflex outward. These tall-stemmed beauties are perfect for formal bedding, perennial borders, and stunning cut flower arrangements.

Key Features:

  • Elegant lily-shaped blooms with pointed, reflexed petals
  • Tall stems ideal for cutting and formal displays
  • Blooms late spring, extending deep into May
  • Reliable perennial performance in well-drained soil
  • Excellent for mass plantings and landscape use
  • Deer and rodent resistant

Growing Conditions:

  • USDA Zones: 4-8
  • Sunset Zones: All zones (chilling required in warmer zones)
  • Sun: Full sun to partial shade
  • Soil: Well-drained (essential to prevent rot)
  • Height: Tall stems

Planting Guide:

When to Plant: October through December. Bulbs can be planted right up until Christmas for spring blooms.

How to Plant: Plant bulbs 6-8" deep with the pointed end facing up, spacing 4-6" apart. In warmer climates, plant deeper (10"+ depth) for stronger stems and better performance. Group bulbs closely for maximum visual impact—tulips always look better in clusters.

Soil Preparation: Remove weeds and stones, loosen soil with a fork or trowel. Ensure excellent drainage—lily flowering tulips will not tolerate soggy soil, especially during wet winters.

Care: Apply complete organic fertilizer in spring for established plantings, or mix into planting holes in fall. Lift and divide bulbs every 5 years when they become crowded. Plant in somewhat sheltered areas to protect tall stems from wind damage.

Pro Tips:

  • Alternate rows of early, mid, and late-blooming tulips for continuous color throughout the season
  • Combine with early perennials in borders for layered spring interest
  • Plant in raised beds with excellent drainage for best perennial performance

Uses: Spectacular for formal bedding, natural perennial borders, mass plantings, and fresh-cut arrangements. The elegant form and extended bloom period make Marilyn a standout in late-spring gardens.
