Chinese Forget Me Not is a beautiful annual groundcover that requires minimal maintenance. Allow the flowers to drop their own seeds and they will return in the spring, bringing vibrant blue hues to your garden. This plant also attracts bees and butterflies.

Chinese Forget-me-not (cynoglossum amabile) has greyish-green, pointed leaves with rounded, bright blue flowers. This plant has larger and brighter blue flowers than the common forget-me-not that we are most familiar with. The large velcro-like seeds of this plant will stick to birds and other animals for dispersal. Plant height is 18-24" seeds germinate best if they are evenly spread into loosened bare ground and kept moist.

Growing : For best results, spread Cynoglossum Amabile seeds evenly in loosened bare ground and keep them moist. Plant Chinese Forget Me Not seeds in autumn (if winters are mild) or in early spring (in colder climates after frost season has passed and nights are warm). Lightly cover the seeds with a quarter inch of good soil and keep them moist.

Sowing: Sow Chinese Forget-Me-Not seeds in early spring, keep soil moist until germination. Can also be fall planted in warm winter regions or started indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Keep soil moist at 70 degrees F for germination. Transplant after the last frost.

Growing: Water the seedlings during their first few weeks of growth. Mature plants tolerate dry soil quite well, and will only need occasional watering in drought conditions; they may flop over in rich or moist soil. These plants will readily reseed themselves, and can spread in good growing conditions. If this is undesirable, cut the plant back after the blossoms fade to prevent the seed heads from forming.

Harvesting: Dispose of unnecessary foliage by cutting the stems close to the base and submerging them in water promptly. Trim any leaves that will be submerged to maintain freshness.
