looking for unique foliage to add to a mixed container, landscape border, or houseplant collection. Customers will love the attractive contrast and texture Coleus's orange feather-shaped foliage offers. This plant is low-maintenance, requiring little more than regular water and full to partial shade to flourish until cold temperatures set in. While Coleus is evergreen in zone 10-11, it can overwinter indoors or grow as a houseplant in bright indirect light. This variety has a compact, mounding habit with uniquely-shaped narrow, long leaves.
Coleus are cultivated for their visually striking foliage. Trimming the blooming spikes can help preserve a preferred aesthetic.
Fancy Feathers Copper, also known as Flame Nettle or Painted Nettle, is a hybrid of the ornamental member of the Mint family native to tropical Asia and northern Australia. This variety offers unique narrow, feather-shaped leaves with a mounding habit of 4-6" tall and 6-8" wide. Its compact size makes this plant particularly well-suited to containers indoors or outside. Fancy Feathers Copper's orange foliage is evergreen in zone 10-11 or a low-maintenance summer annual for mixed containers, hanging baskets, or mass plantings. Fancy Feathers Copper flourishes in full or partial shade with minimal water. This unique Coleus brings attractive texture and color contrast to a modern landscape, patio container, or houseplant collection.
Coleus are wonderful plants for both full sun and shade locations. Coleus grow approximately knee-high. These plants are excellent for combination baskets, containers, or borders. Your customers will like how quickly Coleus grow and fill the landscape with color. They mix well with Verbena, Calibrachoa, and Bacopa since all of these varieties have similar cultural needs. Once they flower in the summer, you can either remove the spikes or leave them to attract pollinators.

Planting & Growing
Coleus will grow to be about 24 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 24 inches. When grown in masses or used as a bedding plant, individual plants should be spaced approximately 20 inches apart. Although it's not a true annual, this fast-growing plant can be expected to behave as an annual in our climate if left outdoors over the winter, usually needing replacement the following year. As such, gardeners should take into consideration that it will perform differently than it would in its native habitat.
This plant performs well in both full sun and full shade. However, you may want to keep it away from hot, dry locations that receive direct afternoon sun or which get reflected sunlight, such as against the south side of a white wall. It requires an evenly moist well-drained soil for optimal growth, but will die in standing water. It is not particular as to soil pH, but grows best in rich soils. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner city environments. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone over the growing season to conserve soil moisture. This is a selected variety of a species not originally from North America. It can be propagated by cuttings; however, as a cultivated variety, be aware that it may be subject to certain restrictions or prohibitions on propagation.
