Culver's Root Seed - Veronicastrum virginicum is a stately, upright plant with elegant white flowers and clean lines, perfect for vertical accents and creating 'white gardens'.
This 5' tall, unbranched perennial has a round, smooth stem and a scentless blooming period during early to mid-summer that lasts for a month. Its tiny seeds can be wind-dispersed and its root system includes a taproot and rhizomes for vegetative reproduction.

Seeds per Ounce: 775,000

Culver's Root is an elegant plant that grows up to 6 feet high, with creamy white flowers and dark green leaves arranged in groups of 3 to 8. It looks stunning when planted with other native plants like Purple Coneflower, Sweet Black-eyed Susan, Rigid Goldenrod, and Wild Bergamot.

Sowing: Direct sow in late fall, pressing the seed into the surface of the soil. For spring planting, mix the Culver's root seeds with moist sand and store in the refrigerator for 60-90 days before planting. Keep the soil very lightly moist until germination- do not overwater.

Growing: Water seedlings occasionally until they become established, but do not overwater. This plant grows rather slowly, usually blooming in its second year of growth. Mature plants can adapt well to slightly drier soil, though they prefer moist or even wet soil. The plants may need support f planted in too much shade. This plant attracts bees and butterflies, and readily reseeds itself.

Harvesting: For cut flowers, choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level, and place in water immediately.
