Herb Seeds - Lemon Grass, West Indian is a versatile and essential ingredient in Asian cuisine. Also known as Cochin grass or Malabar grass, this herb has various names such as "inchippullu" in Malayalam and is native to several countries including Cambodia, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, and Thailand.
Lemongrass is a versatile herb in Asian and Indian cuisine, known for its subtle citrus flavor. It can be dried or used fresh, and commonly used in teas, soups, curries, and a variety of meats and seafood. This popular herb is also utilized in teas, dishes, and traditional medicine in Jamaica, Togo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Mexico.
To properly start growing lemon grass, first prepare the soil by filling a seed tray with high-quality, well-draining seed-starting mix. Then, lightly moisten the soil before planting the seeds on top and covering them with a light layer of soil. Mist the lemon grass seeds with water and cover the tray with a clear plastic dome or plastic wrap, creating a microclimate for ideal moisture levels and warmth.
For optimal germination, keep the tray in a warm, bright area with temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C). Be cautious when watering, ensuring the soil stays moist but not too wet. Be patient as germination can take 1-3 weeks, but with proper moisture and warmth, the lemon grass seeds will begin to sprout.
