This snow pea variety, Oregon Giant, is renowned for its extra sweetness and delicious flavor. It is highly resistant to disease and produces high yields of crisp and tender peas. With vigorous vines that require no support, this variety produces giant 5" long pods. As a result, it is a top choice for producing high yields of exceptionally sweet and delicious peas.

Seeds Per Package:

  • 1 oz - Approximately 96 Seeds
  • 4 oz - Approximately 384 Seeds
  • 1 lb - Approximately 1,536 Seeds
  • 5 lb - Approximately 7,680 Seeds

Uses : Oregon Giant Snow Peas are best enjoyed fresh from the vine. This variety is highly favored by children due to its effortless growth and delicious snacking potential. For cooking purposes, gently stir-frying snow peas in a pan with other soft vegetables is recommended. These snow peas truly stand out in recipes when kept extra crisp.

Sowing:Plant Oregon Giant Snow Pea seeds outdoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost or when the soil reaches 40 degrees F. Consider using beneficial bacteria inoculant for optimal growth. Plant in well-draining, sunny soil, 2 inches apart and 2 inches deep. Avoid planting near onions or garlic.

Growing: Pea seeds, particularly the Oregon Giant variety, require careful maintenance in order to flourish. Before blooming, it is crucial to maintain a moist environment without excess water. Once the plants begin to bloom, a slight increase in watering is advised. Remove weeds with caution to avoid disturbing the delicate plants, and consider using mulch to conserve moisture and prevent weed growth. Notably, Oregon Giant is resistant to mosaic virus, common wilt, and powdery mildew, making it an excellent choice for a successful pea harvest.

Harvesting: To achieve optimal flavor, it is recommended to harvest snow peas at their mature length, but before the peas fully develop inside. Regularly checking the pods will result in the best outcome.
