Euphorbia Miner's Merlot (also known as Wood Spurge) is a hybrid semi-evergreen perennial discovered in California. This variety resists heat, drought, deer, and rabbits, offering a vigorous, mounding habit of 18-24" tall and wide. Wood Spurge excels in borders, containers, and woodland and rock gardens. Lime green flower bracts bloom atop wine-red foliage from spring to summer, and foliage deepens to olive green and even darker in cooler temperatures. Evergreen to zone 6, stunning foliage enhances the landscape through winter. Hybrid Miners Merlot flourishes in full sun, a vibrant addition to any garden, front porch, or patio
Want to add red tones to the year-round garden? Consider using 'Miner's Merlot' euphorbia, with wine-red spring growth that deepens to an olive green in the summer, then darkens when the temperatures drop in the fall.
Springtime brings out chartreuse flowers/bracts, attracting hummingbirds and bees.'Miner's Merlot' has a lower profile, growing up to 18 to 24 inches tall and wide. Lovely in fall/winter baskets and container planters, this spurge will also add color and texture to sunny borders. Wear gloves when pruning back the spent flower stems as the sap may be irritating to the skin. Chewing pets should be kept away from all euphorbias to safeguard their health.
Plant in full to part sun in a well-drained soil and give regular to occasional irrigation. Reportedly tolerates reflected heat and is hardy in U.S.D.A. Zones 6 to 11.
