This variety of Squash Seeds is commonly known as Trombocino, Zucchetta Rampicante, or Italian Trombone Squash and 'Tromba d'Albenga' in Italian. This type of Summer Squash takes approximately 60 days to mature in the summer, and 90 days to mature in the winter. It is an open-pollinated seed.
Tromboncino Rampicante - Climbing Zucchini, belongs to the moschata family. When picked at 8-12", this variety is tender, mild, sweet, and nutty, making it perfect for steaming, grilling, or using in salads. Italians frequently use it in gnocchi and ravioli. As the fruits grow longer, up to winter squash size, they can be baked. As the name suggests, its vines are large and should be supported with a trellis to prevent them from taking over. Garland, ME grower Relentless states that this variety "out-tastes 95% of the Zuke pack."
