Lobularia maritima 'Carpet of Snow' — also known as Sweet Alyssum, Sweet Alice, Sweet Alison, and Seaside Lobularia — is the most versatile edging plant in the cool-season garden. Dense clusters of snow-white flowers bloom continuously throughout the growing season with a delicious honey-like fragrance. Grows only 3 inches tall, spreads into a dense mat, blooms in as little as 9 weeks from seed, and thrives in nearly any soil. In warmer climates it will self-sow year after year. Drought tolerant; deer resistant. Approx. 17,500 seeds per ¼ oz; approx. 70,000 seeds per oz.

Growing Guide
Sowing outdoors: Sow in early spring as temperatures begin to warm. Surface-sow — do not cover seeds; they need light to germinate. Keep seeds moist until germination.
Site and soil: Full sun to partial shade; well-drained soil, pH 6.0–6.5. Plants cannot withstand heavy frost, so avoid sowing when hard freezes are still expected.
Ongoing care: Keep well-watered through summer. Lightly trim plants after the first flush of blooms to tidy and encourage a second flowering. In warmer regions, established plants will self-sow reliably each season.
