Soft Color for the First Days of Spring

Cream Beauty snow crocus (Crocus chrysanthus 'Cream Beauty') brings fragrant, creamy-yellow flowers to the garden in very early spring. Goblet-shaped blooms feature subtle purple edging, a bronzy-green base, and bright orange stamens for a warm splash of color as the garden begins to wake.

Plant small groups beside a path, tuck them into a rock garden, or fill a well-drained container for an early-season display you can enjoy up close. In suitable conditions, these perennial corms can multiply over time to form a fuller planting.

What You Are Ordering

  • Product: Crocus corms for planting, commonly sold as bulbs; not seeds or flowering potted plants.
  • Variety: Crocus chrysanthus 'Cream Beauty', a snow crocus.
  • Pack options: Choose 10, 25, or 100 corms from the available sizes.
  • Listed corm size: 5/6 cm grading.
  • Bloom color: Creamy yellow with subtle purple markings and orange stamens.
  • Bloom season: Very early spring, often February–March depending on climate and weather.

Growing Conditions

  • Light: Full sun.
  • Soil: Gritty, freely draining soil with poor to moderate fertility.
  • USDA growing range: Zones 3–8.
  • Uses: Rock gardens, border edges, containers, and naturalized groupings.

Fall Planting

  1. Choose a planting area that does not remain waterlogged after rain, or use a container with drainage holes.
  2. Plant in fall, approximately 3–4 inches deep, with the growing tip facing upward.
  3. Arrange corms in small clusters or informal drifts for a natural-looking display.
  4. Water after planting to settle the soil, then avoid prolonged soggy conditions.

Care After Blooming

Leave foliage in place after flowering until it yellows and dies back naturally. The leaves help replenish the corms for the following season. If planted in a lawn, delay mowing the planted area until the foliage has died back.

Allow established plantings to grow undisturbed where possible. Crowded groups can be lifted and divided during dormancy before replanting in early autumn. Flowering and multiplication depend on drainage, climate, and growing conditions.

Protecting Your Planting

Mice and squirrels may disturb newly planted corms. Where needed, use a suitable protective bulb cage or planting mesh that allows shoots to emerge.

Ornamental planting stock: Do not eat the corms or other plant parts, and do not use these flowers as saffron. Keep planting stock away from children and pets.
