Muscari armeniacum is the definitive Grape Hyacinth — the classic species that has charmed gardeners for centuries with its dense, cobalt-blue flower spikes tipped with a delicate thin white rim on each bell. Native to Eurasia, this perennial bulb is one of the easiest and most rewarding plants to grow: plant in fall, and come spring, dense drifts of cheerful blue blooms emerge in April, fragrant and alive with early pollinators including bees and bumblebees. Naturalizes freely, returns more abundantly each year, and thrives with virtually no maintenance.

Why Gardeners Love It

  • Classic cobalt blue Grape Hyacinth — the original and most beloved variety
  • Fragrant, showy blooms — excellent as a cut flower
  • Naturalizes freely and spreads into ever-wider colonies year after year
  • Deer, rabbit, and rodent resistant
  • Tolerates clay soil and black walnut — tough and adaptable
  • Early-season nectar source for bees and bumblebees

Planting & Care

Plant bulbs pointed tip up in well-drained soil in fall. Water well after planting. Keep soil moist during the spring growing season but reduce watering once foliage begins to die back naturally. Leave undisturbed for best naturalized results — colonies will expand and improve each year. Forces easily for winter indoor bloom.
