Tulipa 'Salmon Van Eijk' brings a rare warmth to the spring garden. As a Darwin Hybrid — the category widely considered the gold standard of tulip performance — it delivers impressively large blooms on tall, sturdy stems in a luminous shade of salmon-pink that glows in morning light. Unlike more delicate varieties, Darwin Hybrids are built to return year after year, making Salmon Van Eijk one of the best long-term investments for any serious gardener. Plant it in generous drifts for maximum impact or mix it with white and cream varieties for an effortlessly sophisticated spring palette.

Planting & Care

Plant in well-draining soil with the pointed tip facing up. Water thoroughly once after planting — roots establish through autumn and blooms arrive in early spring. To maximize perennial performance in Zones 3–7: plant 8–10 inches deep, apply a balanced fertilizer in spring, deadhead spent blooms, and allow foliage to die back naturally. In Zone 8, pre-chill bulbs for 8–12 weeks before fall planting.
