The BLACK CUBAN PEPPER Seeds are a unique Pequin type grown organically in Cuba. This particular variety is distinguished by its dark foliage and solid black fruits, which measure approximately 1" in length. Its distinct characteristic is the gradual ripening of its pods from deep black to red. A highly attractive variety for ornamental purposes as well, owing to its pretty fruits, leaves and stems.
- This compact plant is great for growing in pots and offers attractive small fruits that turn from black or dark purple to red. It is highly productive and can be easily moved indoors during the fall for extended harvest. The peppers have a strong heat but also add flavor to different dishes. The small fruit size is a plus for me because a whole Pepper is just about right for kitchen recipes without being overpowering or adding too much heat in comparison to cooking with larger jalapeños or habaneras.
Maximize growth in sunny locations by supplementing with LED lights during winter, gently shake or brush plant to promote pollination, and trim in fall to overwinter indoors with bright light.
